After the port strike ends, its impact will last for 7 weeks. As of October 3, there were nearly 60 ships anchored outside the port. Port operations may take 2-3 weeks to return to normal. Shippers may choose to mitigate the risks associated with a new potential strike on January 15 next year, which will affect the market from mid-November to the second half of December. The number of flights between Europe and the United States East Coast has decreased, transportation time has been extended, and capacity has decreased.
Some goods shipped to the United States need to be loaded back on board and then shipped to their final destinations in the United States. Goods from Asia need to be packed for export at the end of November, exports from Latin America will surge in the first half of December, and exports from Europe may surge in the second half of December.
