Recently, Hapag-Lloyd announced on its official website that it will increase the FAK rate between the Far East and Europe, and impose a General Rate Increase Surcharge (GRI) on goods shipped from Asia/Oceania to Africa.
1. Far East and Europe routes: Hapag-Lloyd plans to increase the FAK rate between the Far East and Europe. The rate adjustment involves goods transported in 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers and refrigerated containers, of which refrigerated containers include high-cube containers. The rate adjustment will take effect on March 1, 2025.
2. Asia/Oceania to Africa routes: Hapag-Lloyd announced that it will impose a General Rate Increase Surcharge (GRI) on 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, refrigerated containers, and special containers (including high-cube containers) shipped from Asia/Oceania to Africa. The levy standard is US$300 per standard container (TEU), which will be implemented from March 1, 2025 and will be valid until further notice.
