According to US media reports, due to the US reciprocal tariffs that caused loading several months in advance and rising import prices, the container throughput of the Port of Los Angeles is expected to decline by 10% in the second half of this year. Previously, the port's cargo volume was strong from the beginning of the year to February, reaching 1.726 million TEUs in the first two months, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. The port's executive director said that the tariff war provoked by Trump may affect the port, and many retailers and manufacturers imported products through the Port of Los Angeles in advance to hedge against tariffs. He also believed that cargo volume would decline in the second half of the year, and the throughput of ports around the world may be affected to varying degrees.
