Seven Asian liner companies open new Asia-Mexico route

March 24, 2025

According to foreign media reports, as China-Mexico trade continues to grow, seven Asian container liner companies jointly launched a new Asia-Mexico route. The companies involved in the operation include Sinotrans Container Lines, TS Lines, and Hailing Shipping.

The route provides services every week, with the port sequence of Shanghai-Qingdao-Pusan-Manzanillo-Shanghai. It is expected to make its maiden voyage from Shanghai on May 1. The voyage from Shanghai to Mexico is about 22 days. Hailing Shipping named it "AMX".

China-Mexico trade has expanded significantly. In 2024, China's exports to Mexico reached US$90.23 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, nearly five times Mexico's exports to China; China's total imports from Mexico were US$19.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. Hailing Shipping staff said the Asia-Mexico trade route is key to the global supply chain.

However, geopolitical factors also contribute to the development of China-Mexico trade. The United States has pressured Mexico to prevent Chinese goods from entering the United States through the route to circumvent tariffs.
