According to foreign media reports, truck drivers in Maharashtra, India, have launched an indefinite strike since July 2 due to labor disputes with transportation authorities.
The strike is large-scale, and it is expected that about 20,000 trucks and freight vehicles in Mumbai and other parts of the state will be affected, and the suspension time is undetermined. This will undoubtedly cause delays or even interruptions in the transportation of goods in and out of Maharashtra, including basic materials, and India's key supply chains will also face serious disruptions.
The transporters are determined and will not compromise until the state government meets their long-standing demands. To this end, the state government has formed a 10-member committee headed by the Transport Commissioner to investigate the relevant issues. Mumbai, as the capital of Maharashtra, is an important transportation hub and the largest seaport in India. The nearby Navashiva Port is likely to be interrupted and delayed due to the strike. Shippers and freight forwarders who have goods shipped here recently, please pay close attention to the developments and make preparations in advance.
